Obituaries TG 'Tug' Mones

TG 'Tug" Mones, 93, of Vermillion, died Thursday, April 15, 1999 at the Sioux Valley Vermillion Hospital.

Tug was born April 22, 1905 in Windon, MN to George and Sevana (Bocca) Mones. He grew up in Windom, and graduated from Windom High School. He married Jeanette Elizabeth Olsby on Aug. 13, 1933, in Valley City, ND. He managed JC Penney stores in North Dakota and Minnesota, before moving to Vermillion in 1943, where he managed the JC Penney's Store for 30 years. He purchased Monogram News in Vermillion, and operated the news stores until his retirement in 1994. His wife died in 1985.

He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion, the Vermillion Development Company and the AARP. He was a past member of the Vermillion Lions Club, Vermillion Area Chamber of Commerce, and a long time member of the Vermillion School Board.

He is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Roger (PK) Holmes of Vermillion, and Mrs. Dale (Betty) Dannen of Rancho Mirage, CA; three grandsons: Jeff Bartels, Brent Bartels and Karl Holmes; two granddaughters: Kim Vermilyea and Elizabeth Johnson; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion. Burial will be at a later date. Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion was in charge of the arrangements. Carroll Anderson

Carroll F. Anderson, 91, Meckling, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999 at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home, Viborg.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, April 16 at Bergen Lutheran Church, rural Meckling, with the Rev. Barbara Stroud-Borth officiating. Burial was in Meckling Cemetery.

Visitation was from 3-7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 15 at the Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home, Vermillion. There was also a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home.

He was born March 18, 1908, to Lewis L. and Clarabelle (Thrash) Anderson in Cedar County, NE. The family moved from Cedar County to Colome and then to Knox County, NE, where he attended rural school. He then moved to the Meckling area.

He married Gustava Walraven Aug. 22, 1931, in Mission Hill. She died Feb. 15, 1992. The couple farmed in the Meckling area for many years.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Gustava; six sisters: Verna, Lulu, Belle, Gracie, Buelah and Gladys; and six brothers: Cecil Columbus, Harry, Cecil Edger, Roy, Earl and Wilson.

Glen Rasmussen

Glen E. Rasmussen, 66, Burbank, died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at Sioux Valley Vermillion Campus.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home, Vermillion, with the Rev. Elmer "Sandy" Aakre officiating. Burial in the BluffView Cemetery, Vermillion, followed. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

He was born June 21, 1932, in Vermillion, to Arthur E. and Selma (Oberg) Rasmussen. He graduated from Vermillion schools. He worked as a farm equipment mechanic.

He was a member of the Vermillion Eagle's for 30 years, the NRA and was a member of the Clay County Sheriff's Posse.

He is survived by his daughter: Kari Neal, Vermillion; two sons: Victor and Scott, Vermillion; five grandchildren; his mother: Selma Rasmussen, Vermillion; a sister: Shirley Risk, Perris, CA; and a brother: Merle Brattvet, Hettinger, ND.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Lillian Brown

Lillian Brown, 78, of Vermillion, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999 at her home.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Vermillion, with burial in BluffView Cemetery, Vermillion.

Visitation was from 3-7 p.m. Friday, April 16, at the Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home, Vermillion. At 7 p.m. Friday there was an open Rebekah Service at the funeral home.

Lillian Brown was born Jan. 23, 1921 in Vermillion to Thomas and Lillian (Tripp) Delaney. She attended and graduated from University High School in Vermillion, was a homemaker, and was employed by the USD Food Service for five years, retiring in 1985.

She married Earl Dean Brown on July 2, 1942 at South Sioux City, NE. He died Feb. 9, 1986.

She is survived by two sons: Earl and his wife, Linda, Vermillion, and Thomas and his wife JoEllen, Meckling; three daughters: Carolyn "Kitty" and her husband Delmer Moore and Jayce and Charles Rydstrom, all of Vermillion, and Mary Lou and Donald Bouck of Burbank; a sister, Alice Brown, Vermillion; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, nine brothers and four sisters.

Mary Jane Lee

A rosary service for Mary Jane Lee, 67, Tulsa, OK, was held on Tuesday, April 20, 1999, at 7 p.m. at the Stanley Funeral Chapel in Tulsa. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 21, at 11 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tulsa with the Rev. Jack Gleason officiating. Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa under the direction of Kennard Funeral Service.

Mary was born on March 31, 1932, in Vermillion to F. Hugh Lee and Lelia Manning Lee. She was retired as a teacher. Mary died on April 16, 1999, in Tulsa at the age of 67 years.

She is survived by a daughter: Andrea Siegler and husband David; a son: Daniel Smith and wife Carol; and four grandchildren: Alexandra Smith, Zachary Siegler, Gabrielle Siegler and Juliana Siegler.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
